Capulin Volcano

Overview
Capulin Volcano, located in  northeast New Mexico, is one of the best examples of a cinder cone in the United States. Unlike most other cones,  there is  paved road to the rim of the volcano.
The volcano is between 1,200 and 1,400 ft tall â€‹and is surrounded by forests. The views from the summit are stunning. The last eruption was around  54,200 years ago, during the ice age. Since Capulin Volcano is a monogenetic cinder cone (having only one period of activity), it will not erupt again. Capulin Volcano is managed by the National Park Service. There is $15 entrance fee for motorcycles.
